LYRICS

Did you ever take a Negroni,

I ‘ve drunk bad cocktails

But for sure it’s the worst.

It was the other night on a party

At Wendy’s summer house,

(Exquisit dress)

There I met Harold Robertson,

You know,

The designer…

Also J.P. Doux the hair dresser,

And Mary Hart the dietist that appears on TV.

But I was talking about Negroni….

Well it looks like a Manhattan, but it’s not,

It belongs to the family of Rusty Nail,

Stronger than Old Fashioned,

But bitter…

Oh so bad, Negroni,

Negroni, Negroni…

Did you ever take a Negroni,

I ‘ve drunk bad cocktails

But for sure it’s the worst.

It was the other night on a party

At Wendy’s summer house,

(Exquisit dress)

Oh so bad, Negroni,

Negroni, Negroni…

Well, you know I have all this cosmopolitan friends

With their sins and their defects.

I love their strange way to be. I really love it.

We get up at 12 a.m. .We go out at 7 p.m.

At home…time goes away flying…

Fucking and fucking. Whisky and Manhattan.

We are soft. Soft as the wind.

Tonight there’s a vernissage.

I hope that the girl I saw in red come to this party.

She was complete. Maybe we can talk a little bit this time.

She’s got a porsche.

Oh I imagine her naked body in my bed.

I know what’s love since the day I saw her.

Well, you know I have all this cosmopolitan friends

With their sins and their defects.

I love their strange way to be. I really love it.

I like these forms, I like these worms, I see you’ve worked hard,

This espresivity, this rage with dignity, the use of white,

You’re really genial, you really impress me, you grow so fast!

You’ll be an influence, your brain might be so dense, you’re the one.

This is sure your masterpiece, sure,

This is sure your masterpiece by now.

See the thin green line, you made it so fine, did you spit on it?

It’s like a new sense, the feel is so intense, it’s heavenly peace!

You broke the moulds, man, you are immortal, this is ART!

There should be a name to this, I freeze, yours is my heart.

This is sure your masterpiece, sure,

This is sure your masterpiece by now.

Play with my rules, no place for fools, let’s go to run fast,

There’s no spinach, cocaine and manhattan all night long,

You are so friendly, my girls will help you, don’t do it alone (so ridicule)

There’s no excuse, I’ll show hiw to use this world.

This is sure your masterpiece, sure,

This is sure your masterpiece by now.

This is sure your masterpiece, sure,

This is sure your masterpiece by now.

Sometimes life gives you surprises, when the oxigen is going away and it was being your favourite day with the cake and your false friends until you notice that the rings are into the glass becoming rusty

Rusty rusty rusty rusty rusty rusty rusty rusty

Many think it’s time to thanksgiven oh heaven thank you for the days that I’ve lived, I remember the fresh sensation of my feet on the sand and breeze on my cheeks, as a child innocent and wild but now so nasty,

Nasty nasty nasty nasty nasty nasty nasty nasty

By fortune all those days are gone, now I live strong without sad clouds of doubt, in fact no doubt in my view, the horizon so clear, with clowns around, these clowns with names like dad, mom, wife, friend, grandpa, grandma, brother, sister, neighbour, president, dog, bartender…

I use the world, don’t ask me how

I am the center of my here and now

Silly silly silly silly silly silly world,

Silly silly silly silly silly silly world,

Nasty, Rusty, Nasty, Rusty, Nasty, Rusty….

Would you  like to found with me

The Egotism Comitee?

Hey, people, I am art,

I’m neat and deep

Hey people I am art

I am the king.

Can you see the sun?

Can you see it shining?

Well, you have to know it’s shining

There just for me.

Hey people, I am art,

I am a king.

I am, I am art.

In the loneliness of the creator

I wait

While my time is going away,

I just wait….

I was not born to be

A normal buddy,

My horizons are quite different

Ah ahh….

In the loneliness of the creator

I lay

As the sun is going to sleep

Between the peaks,

I’m not like you or him,

I’m a special person,

I was born with distinction

Ah ah ah ah aaaahhh….

In the loneliness of the creator

I look for a meaning

And I find it, and I forget it,

And I’m back beside me

I was not born to be

A grey cityzen,

You know I’m not like you all,

Ah ah ah ah

I….am strange.

Author's Comments

I wrote a large part of this album while traveling around Europe on Interrail. In my head, the idea was to take risks with a new musical language, just like Bowie had done during his Berlin period. Art served as the backdrop for the song themes; plus, it was a great excuse to write tracks with unexpected structures. It’s an album I’ve re-recorded four times already. This version is the penultimate one, from 2024. The next one will be the definitive. Back in 2010 I started planning it with the artist Evru, but we never actually got around to doing anything together.
